Celebrating the history of a resilient and creative LGBTIQ community in Sydney's Inner West
Maitree worked with Sydney’s Inner West Council and their LGBTIQ Working Group to create a short film celebrating the Inner West’s creative, resilient and supportive LGBTIQ community.
Designed to demonstrate the resilience of the community and serve as an archival snapshot of the community at that moment in time, the film includes conversations with some of the early LGBTIQ activists from the area. It was a privilege for the Maitree team to host these conversations.

Outcomes
- A heartfelt, gentle and informative ‘conversation format’ style video widely shared through the Inner West’s communication channels and presented at the Council’s annual LGBTIQ celebrations.
- A community memory document kept and maintained at local libraries for future generations.
