Sydney’s Inner West Council
Honouring the contributions made by women and girls on International Women’s Day
Sydney’s Inner West Council were looking for a way to create an authentic celebration of the women in their community for International Women’s Day. We worked with the Council over a number of years to support their excellent work in the community.
Outcomes
- Our collaboration with spoken word artist May Tran was a great success to artistically frame the interviews.
- Maintaining a minimalist studio style helped to focus on the individuality of the girls and women involved.
- The Honour Roll projections were run in three sites around the Inner West for more than a week, with local women’s names projected large scale in the artwork.

The first year we collaborated to produce a short film highlighting the stories of some of the diverse women in their community and what the sisterhood meant to them.
The second year the Council installed a series of projections across the neighbourhood with a digitised version of their annual Women’s Day Honour Roll. We were privileged to work with the Buuja Buuja Butterfly Dancers to create the projections.
