Casting Call: Experienced Presenter with Intellectual Disability for Film Project

We are looking for a talented presenters with disability who loves being in front of the camera and is interested in helping workers in the disability sector understand how to support people to communicate effectively (and why it’s important!)!
Are you an adult with an intellectual disability?
Do you identify as having a communication impairment?
Are you confident in front of the camera?
Do you enjoy sharing stories and knowledge?
Are you comfortable presenting scripted information?
Would you feel comfortable with us filming you in everyday life - working, socializing or doing other meaningful activities?
If YES, we would love to talk to you about being a paid presenter for a national project. Our priority is to find someone with an intellectual disability who identifies as having a communication impairment, but apart from that all disability types are welcome, and we strongly encourage those from diverse cultural backgrounds to apply.
This project is being produced by Maitree House (www.maitreehouse.com) We are a film production company. We are working with an elearning partner to make an online training program for people who work with people with disability about supporting good communication.
The program will be presented by people with disability across Australia. As a presenter you will be paid to deliver up to 20 minutes of script to camera in a location/s that is relevant to your everyday life. The film crew will also work with you to film additional footage in these locations, which shows how you communicate and why it’s important in your daily life. Filming can include your family, friends and other people in your life.
The filming requires 1-2 days of your time scheduled between June 1st and June 11th.
Payment is in line with MEAA award rates for presenters in online videos. And any additional support costs you need covered to participate will be covered by us.
