Sydney Casting Call Out: Looking for people to share what good communications means to them!
Maitree is working with an elearning partner on a project for the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission to make an online training program for NDIS workers about how to support effective communication.
An important part of this training program is the real voices, stories and perspectives of people with disability. So we're looking for people who identify as needing communication support who want to share what’s important to them when receiving support.
The filming requires an hour interview on the Saturday, 12th June 2021.
The type of questions we might ask include:
What does good communication mean to you?
What do you need to help you communicate?
When is good communication most important for you?
Why is it important to be understood?
When has not being understood been a big problem for you?
What are your top tips for support workers about supporting good communication?
If you are interested in answering some of these questions for our training program, we want to hear from you!
This project is focused on people who identify with needing communication support, for example people who use AAC. Apart from that, we are open to all ages and disability types. People from Indigenous or culturally diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Each interviewee will receive reimbursement for their time. We will cover any support costs required to help facilitate the interview, such as translators. However we cannot cover costs related to your travel to and from the venue.
To apply, please send an email to email@example.com with the following details:
Your name and age
Your disability type
Your preferred communication style
Your ethnicity or cultural background
Attach a headshot/ photo
Please also attach a short video introducing yourself and why you’d be great for the role. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy - on a phone is fine. It’s just so we can meet you and get a sense of how you present. We can do this over Zoom/Skype/Google if you’d prefer, just let us know!
If you have any questions, please email Luvenia Kalia (Producer) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kindly send us your details by Friday 4th June 2021.
