Call Out: Looking for experienced presenters with disability for a film project (Brisbane)
Nov 2021 / Brisbane
Maitree House (www.maitreehouse.com) is looking for talented presenters with disability who live in the NT, love being in front of the camera and are interested in helping NDIS workers understand how to support people to have safe and enjoyable mealtimes.
Are you a person with disability?
Do you identify as needing assistance at mealtimes?
Are you confident in front of the camera?
Do you enjoy sharing stories and knowledge?
Are you comfortable presenting scripted information?
Would you feel comfortable with us filming you in everyday life - working, socializing or doing other meaningful activities?
If YES, we would love to talk to you about being a paid presenter for a national project about safe and enjoyable mealtimes. Our priority is to find people with disability who identify as needing mealtime assistance, but apart from that all disability types are welcome, and we strongly encourage those from diverse cultural backgrounds to apply.
This project is for the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and will be a part of a free online learning resource for all NDIS Workers across Australia. To make the resource for the Commission, Maitree is working with Liquid Interactive, an e-learning company.
The program will be presented by people with disability. As a presenter you will be paid to deliver up to 15 minutes of script to camera in a location/s that is relevant to your everyday life. The film crew will also work with you to film additional footage in these locations, which shows mealtime assistance and why it’s important in your daily life. Filming can include your family, friends and other people in your life.
The filming requires:
-A 2 hour rehearsal early November 2021
-Practise at home
-Then 1-2 days of your time in November for filming
Payment is in line with MEAA award rates for presenters in online videos.
Additional support costs - Any additional support costs you need to participate in filming will be covered by us.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, please send an email to email@example.com answering the following questions:
What is your name and age?
Where do you live?
What is your ethnicity or cultural background?
What are some examples of things you like to do in your daily life?
What is your disability type?

Please also attach a short video introducing yourself and why you’d be great for the role. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy - on a phone is fine. It’s just so we can meet you and get a sense of how you present. We can do this over Zoom/Skype/Google if you’d prefer, just let us know!
If you have any questions, please email our producer organising casting for the project Luvenia Kalia at firstname.lastname@example.org. (If you would like to speak to someone on the phone, please call our Producer in the NT, Peta Khan on 0478 724 820)
