Casting Call: Experienced presenter with disability for video project in Sydney

March 12, 2018

Hi folks!

We are looking for talented people with disability who have experience presenting scripted work and  love being in front of the camera.

  • Are you an adult with a disability who lives in Sydney?

  • Are you confident in front of the camera?

  • Do you enjoy sharing stories and knowledge?

  • Are you comfortable presenting scripted information?

  • Do you have an interesting career / pastime / hobby that we could film?

  • Can you work 1-2 days in April?

If you answered YES we’d love to talk to you about being a paid presenter for a national training program for people who work with people with disability as part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (the NDIS)

**All disability types and communication styles welcome

**We encourage people from diverse cultural backgrounds to apply

Applications must be received by 5pm on Friday 23rd March 2018.

The program will be presented by people with disability from across Australia. As a presenter you will be paid to deliver up to 5 minutes of script to camera in locations connected with your day-to- day life. The film crew will also work with you to film additional footage of you in these locations, doing what you normally do. For example you may be an artist so our team would film you creating your art work OR you may love knitting scarves or singing in a local choir – then our film crew would film you doing this. Filming may include your family, friends, and other people in your life.

We welcome all communication styles. The main thing is that you are confident to be in front of the camera and presenting scripted information and comfortable being filmed doing activities you normally do in a day.

If you are interested, please send an email to peta@maitreehouse.com including:

Headshot / photo

Your name and age
Your disability
Your preferred communication style
Your ethnicity or cultural background
Where you live (which part of Sydney)
Your hobby or job that we could film you doing

Please also send us a short video saying hi and why you’d be great for the role. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy – it can be filmed on a phone. It’s just so we can meet you and get a sense of your presentation style. If you can’t make a video we can organise a Skype call so please still get in touch!

If you have any questions please email peta@maitreehouse.com OR if you need to call someone, please call our Project Manager Matt Cartwright on 0415 038 447.

Applications must be received by 5pm on Friday 23rd March 2018.
