Change the Story
Storytelling Project / Facilitation
Maitree collaborated with CoAct to design and facilitate Change the Story- a nationwide storytelling project celebrating people and communities around Australia who are changing the story. The project engaged 8 emerging filmmakers around Australia to tell the story of 8 inspiring Australians who are stepping up, working hard and making a difference in their own lives and their community. Overall the project was a celebration of community resilience and innovative social change storytelling.
Feedback for the first year of the project was fantastic. Lauren the Marketing and Communications Officer at CoACT said:
Change The Story was officially launched with CoAct Service Partner CHESS at the Jetty Memorial Theatre in Coffs Harbour. CoAct’s CEO Matt Little attended the premiere event and couldn’t have been prouder of the project - "The movies were fantastic... brought the house down!! Tears and all!". The event even made the pages of the Coffs Coast Advocate, it definitely had the town buzzing!
We have welcomed an overwhelming response on social media, especially on the CoAct Facebook page. During the two-week Facebook campaign, the Change The Story posts reached 68,000 people -- and the films were viewed over 26,000 times! Change The Story has been the most successful Facebook campaign for CoAct to date, with more people liking, sharing and commenting on the posts than ever before!
See below for the trailer to the project for 2017 and keep scrolling for a few highlight videos made by our legend young producers who really stepped our of their comfort zone to produce some very creative short stories on inspiring Australians.
